Pharmacy Rotational Technician

Job summary

The post will be rotational, and involve the successful candidate working in our Dispensary, the Aseptic unit and other areas such as Procurement. Prior hospital experience is desirable but not essential. Successful candidates will be given full training and development in order to fulfil specialist duties for this post. (Including participation in accreditation schemes if applicable)

This post provides a unique opportunity to join the pharmacy team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a highly motivated, adaptable and conscientious full-time registered Pharmacy Technician to join our existing team of Technicians, Assistants and Pharmacists. You must have an eye for detail, work with a high level of accuracy and have effective interpersonal skills.

The Royal Devon was established in April 2022, bringing together the expertise of both the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.

As a key member of the Trust, youll be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients when they need it most.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include:

  • Labelling, dispensing and final accuracy checking of prescriptions
  • Receiving and Issuing prescriptions
  • Assist with the day to day supervision and co-ordination of aseptic preparation, dispensing and checking activities
  • Preparation of injectable medicines using aseptic technique in pharmaceutical isolators
  • Assist with the day-to-day orderings of standard medicines
  • Assist with the processing of invoices, and escalating discrepancies
  • Assist the Procurement Technician and Lead Procurement Technician with projects designed to improve auditability and/or efficiency

We are a department that is committed to the expanding role of technicians, and you will gain experience in many aspects of hospital pharmacy practice in our busy department.

Work in various sections of the pharmacy department undertaking technician duties on a rotational basis, (Dispensary, Aseptic services, Procurement) whilst demonstrating professional attitudes and behaviours in line with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Standards for Pharmacy Professionals.
