Join Our Growing Emergency Department as an Enhanced Nurse Practitioner
Our recently refurbished Emergency Department is excited to expand our team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs).
We are a dynamic and friendly team, bringing together a wide range of experience and backgrounds. Our ENPs primarily work in the Minors area of the department, with access to dedicated treatment and consultation rooms. There is a new Children\'s Emergency Department which will also work within. Our multidisciplinary team is supportive and places a strong emphasis on education and professional development.
The Enhanced Nurse Practitioner role involves working autonomously to assess, treat, refer, or discharge patients based on clinical urgency and time priority, always maintaining a high standard of care.
We value team players who are committed to ongoing learning. The role includes attending and delivering teaching sessions to Nurse Practitioners, nursing staff, and medical teams.

Job responsibilities
Experience and SkillsPrevious experience in managing minor illnesses and injuries is desirable. Triage experience is also preferred. While X-ray interpretation skills are advantageous, they are not essential.
Work AreasYour primary workplace will be the Emergency Department. However, the department also oversees the Walk-In Centre at Sidwell Street, Exmouth Minor Injuries, and Honiton Minor Injuries. During periods of staff shortages, you may be asked to support these locations to help keep them operational.
Training and DevelopmentWe provide regular in-house training opportunities, including a weekly one-hour teaching session every Wednesday (both virtual and in-person). Additionally, there is an annual Nurse Practitioner study day, plaster study days, safeguarding training, and access to external courses. We also encourage staff interested in further education to pursue Masters level modules.
Working Pattern 37.5 hours per week. This role involves shift work, including weekends and nights, with a 10-hour shift pattern.

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2025/6 rates, inclusive of a 3.6% pay award which will be implemented later this year. If you join before the implementation date, the pay award will be backdated to your start date. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2024/5 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2024/25 | NHS Employers)
