Job summary
- To lead and manage service development and improvement
- Provide excellent customer care which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy
- The role will coordinate and organise the attendance of patients to outpatient, inpatient & day case appointments in line with local and national Access Policy arrangements as instructed Access Policy NHSmail Support NHS Royal Devon
- Ensure all administrative processes; and enquiries are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner, following agreed standard operating procedures, escalating to senior manager as appropriate
- Proof reading clinical letters (please note there is no audio typing in this role)
- Monitoring waiting times, ensuring RTT (Referral to Treatment) pathways are accurate and up to date (NHS England Referral to treatment)
- Booking appointments and surgery dates from waiting lists
- Setting up and updating Clinics/Theatre Bookings as required
- Assisting and supporting (including cross covering) other members of the administrative team across the department or division, including dealing with telephone calls and resolving enquiries for patients, their carers and visitors.
