Occupational Therapist (Urgent Care Response)

Job summary

  • To assess, provide and review a patients therapy requirements, to give advice and information to patients and carers within the home environment or alternative care setting.
  • Aim to wherever possible maintain patients in their own preferred place of care, enabling them to maximise their independence and optimise their quality of life.
  • To work alongside our acute colleagues to assist with effective patient flow and admission avoidance.
  • To be part of a Multidisciplinary Team within UCR, which consists of Physiotherapists, Community Nurses, UCR Support Workers, and Co-ordinators. This also includes working in partnership with our Health and Social Care colleagues and has strong links with primary care and community partners.
  • May be expected to deputise in the absence of the Team Manager.

Honiton and Ottery St Mary Urgent Care Response (UCR) Team have a 12 month vacancy for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist. This post would be suitable for many people with varying skills. The job may interest you if you have been working as an Occupational Therapist in a hospital and would like to gain experience in a Community setting or if you have a particular interest in UCR, or if you have worked in the Community but would like to gain experience working within another team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking individual to join the service. The UCR Team are knowledgeable, hard working, kind and value each other. You will be well supported managerially, and encouraged to continuously develop your skills related to the role. The emphasis is on maximising the patients quality of life, promoting independence, whilst preventing Hospital admissions and supporting the discharge process if they do require a Hospital admission.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, to cover 7 days per week, 8:00 - 20:00
