The Out of Hours Nursing Team sits within the Health and Social Care Community Team for Honiton, Ottery St Mary and Cranbrook; the team consists of nurses and healthcare assistants. The caseload covers a broad range including end of life care, admission avoidance and support for timely hospital discharge and urgent unplanned nursing needs.

We have permanent vacancies but would welcome applications for 6 month fixed term to enable you to broaden your experience. If you're internal, this could be taken as a secondment opportunity.

You will be able to demonstrate your enthusiasm and commitment to community nursing, and further develop your clinical skills in meeting the varied needs of patients out of hours. The post-holder will be supported by Band 6 nurses, the Team Manager and Clinical Matron, and working with an Healthcare Support Worker ("HCSW") on all clinical visits.

Applicants will be required to commit to both shifts, however consideration will be given to applicant preferences and work-life commitments

Applicants need to have a driving licence as driving is shared with HCSW colleagues; the team have use of Trust vehicles for home visits.

We support and encourage additional learning to develop your clinical knowledge base. On appointment to the team you will be assigned a buddy who will support you on your journey within the OOH Nursing Team

Experience in community nursing is desirable for these posts but not essential as full training / support will be provided and the post holder will be supported to develop in the role. There will also be many opportunities to develop and progress your career.

Informal visits would be welcomed.

Working Pattern: The team provides a service from 16:00 08.00 worked over 2 shift patterns 16:00 00:00 and 22:30 08:00; supporting the community populations across Exeter, East and Mid Devon; the Team are based in Ottery St Mary.
