Were looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and innovative Physiotherapist with excellent musculoskeletal and interpersonal skills to work in our aspirational and friendly North Devon Outpatient Physiotherapy Service.
This Advanced Practitioner MSK post is a rare opportunity to further enhance your specialist skills in a positive, proactive team. You will work closely with the MSK outpatient teams to provide specialist input to patients, develop the service and provide clinical and leadership support to the team.
The post holder will be supported by the Clinical Lead and other senior clinicians, and would mentor Band 6 and Student Physiotherapists.
The successful applicant would need to be confident to work as an independent practitioner and have excellent communication, leadership, organisational and clinical skills. Previous senior MSK clinical and leadership experience is an advantage. However, there is scope to develop the right candidate within this specialist area.

This position will be based predominately with the team at Holsworthy Community Hospital. There will also be the option to work some hours at Bideford Community Hospital and remotely from home. This role is for 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.

A typical day as a MSK Outpatient Physiotherapist.
You will be based at Holsworthy Hospital (https://www.royaldevon.nhs.uk/our-sites/holsworthy-community-hospital/) Holsworthy is a Community Hub, in addition to physiotherapy other Out-Patient clinics are also on site including Podiatry, Day Treatment Unit, Antenatal/Postnatal clinics and co-located with community therapy/ nursing promoting a timely and successful journey for our shared patients/clients.
Holsworthy is situated amidst the green hills of North Devon. Within a short distance are the rugged cliffs of the Hartland Peninsula, the sandy beaches of Bude and nearby Widemouth Bay.
A typical day involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with MSK conditions using a shared decision making approach. Additionally supporting, teaching and supervising students or more junior members of the team. Most clinic visits are face to face but we do also offer remote appointments via video and telephone dependant on patient choice and clinical need.
You may spend some time dictating clinical letters, the Trust has a voice recognition system that allows you to quickly record letters (and general clinical documentation) which are sent directly to consultants or GPs via our electronic patient record system and our administration teams.
We work with people who are registered with local GP surgeries as well as consultant referrals from the Royal Devon University Hospital sites and occasionally out of area referrals.
My Care is our new secure electronic healthcare record system, this allows you to view your patients complete hospital record and for other health professionals to keep track of your patients physiotherapy progress. You can communicate with patients who have signed up to the service electronically via a My Chart app within the EPIC system.
You may spend some of your day triaging incoming referrals electronically and you may make some internal referrals which are also completed and sent electronically. Some of your week may involve working on departmental or Trust wide projects to enhance and improve patient care.
Your daily routine will involve regular communication with other members of the physiotherapy MSK team as well as other health and social professionals. You may attend team meetings or in-service training sessions face to face or remotely.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This position will be based predominately with the team at Holsworthy Community Hospital. There will also be the option to work some hours at Bideford Community Hospital and remotely from home.
