Job summary

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Band 5 Registered Nurse with some Clinical experience either in primary or secondary care, who is interested in joining our research team based at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Exeter site. You will plan, implement and deliver high standards of care and will be responsible for screening, recruitment, consent, data collection and retention of patients and carers into research studies and clinical trials.

We have this exciting opportunity to work with the Bellever research team that covers a diverse portfolio of Research Studies and Clinical Trials recruiting from a range of Clinical Specialities covering Disease areas and topics including Cardiology, Stroke, Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. In order to recruit into this portfolio, you will work with Multidisciplinary teams and agencies across the site and region This requires a flexible and adaptable approach to working and the ability to problem-solve in order to meet the challenges and needs of patients, their carers and families, Clinicians and Study Sponsors, whilst delivering the requirements of research protocols. The Stroke portfolio of studies is varied and often involves working with Allied Health Professional teams based both here and within Community Hospital and team settings. Whilst the Cardiology Research studies are based on 3 wards and in Outpatient Clinics on our Wonford site. The Stroke Service offers an increasingly diverse portfolio of Research Studies and Clinical trials and this Clinical team is based on two wards and has a Community Stroke Support Team. On a day to day basis the Bellever research team are based in Bowmoor House at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital but see patients in a variety of settings. You will work closely with the other Research Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, Administrators and the Clinicians, as well as the wider Research and Development team. The team is looking for someone with a flexible and highly motivated attitude who is keen to learn new skills and ways of working. You will need to have an interest in Clinical Research and evidenced -based practice, and strong IT skills. Our focus is on ensuring patients have access to high quality research and are supported throughout their research journeys. You will be expected to engage in developing new skills in order to support the delivery of clinical trials e.g. Consenting into Clinical Trials, patient assessments, cannulation, administrating clinical trial drugs and data management. We have a comprehensive induction package for all new starters joining Research & Development. You will also be supported by a Management team who are accessible and will support your development. We are proactive in the care and wellbeing of our staff with use of Buddys and regular staff mixer mornings and events.

Working Pattern: Up to 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday with the flexibility to work from home on occasions
