Job summary
We are looking for someone to assist the MHA administrator in receiving and checking of documents that are vital in the process of protecting patients who have been detained under the Mental Health Act and Deprivation of Liberty safeguards.
The successful candidate will start at an exciting time of change, with Mental Health and community services coming together to form a new NHS Trust covering Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
The successful candidate must me organised and methodical to receiving and scrutinise legal paperwork. They should must have good interpersonal skills and be efficient communicators for professionals and patients who they engage with.
The successful candidate must be able to take minutes and organise meetings. They must have a knowledge and commitment to Equal Opportunities and promoting diversity.
Main duties of the job
- To assist with the administration of the Mental Health Act (MHA) and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) for Solent NHS Trust
- To ensure lawful implementation and promote compliance with the relevant codes of practice, Trust policies and procedures and Care Quality Commission standards in relation to the MHA and DoLS
- To provide effective secretarial, administrative, and general support to the Head of MHA/MCA
- To effectively prioritise workload maintaining confidentiality and diplomacy at all times
- To undertake admin and clerical duties relevant to the Service commensurate with Band 4 levels of responsibility
- To work without direct supervision and show extensive use of initiative in prioritising and making decisions in relation to effectively supporting the smooth operation of the service
- To ensure that the processes and procedures are followed and maintained on those entering and leaving the building
- To carry out other duties as necessary to meet the changing needs of Solent NHS Trust appropriate to banding
- All duties will be carried out within the Trust's Information Governance, recording, and data sharing procedures and guidance
About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on 1st July 2024. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.
