Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring a high quality of Security service to the Trust. Will protect, investigate, act and endeavour to create and maintain a safe and crime free environment at all times. To carry out Security duties quickly and efficiently with due care and concern for patients' comfort, welfare, dignity and privacy at all times. Work with minimum supervision under the guidance of Senior Security Officers, following well established operating procedures.
Main duties of the job
Security Staff will be appropriately trained in calming & defusing situations of conflict & must not be seen as being aggressive, provocative or to inflame situations of violence & aggression. In exceptional circumstance, when it is necessary to prevent serious harm to persons, Security staff may need to exercise a minimum of reasonable force to avoid injury to others
Detect & deter criminal activity against Trust property, staff, patients & visitors
Detect, resolve & report security breaches, such as insecure buildings, departments etc
Provide emergency response to incidents in non clinical areas of Trust premises
Take responsibility for patient, staff, visitors care in non clinical areas requiring specific First Aid, BLS & AED skills until emergency services arrive
Respond immediately by proceeding to the scene of all calls for security officer/support porter assistance including but not restricted to:
Medical Emergencies
Public disorder
Verbal abusive & threatening behaviour
Threats from weapons
Thefts
Assaults on staff
Criminal damage
Burglary
Arson
Car crime
Fire incidents, including liaison with the fire brigade
Removing Trespassers from hospital premises
Crime in progress
Ensure all incidents are reported & logged electronically
About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on 1st July 2024. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.
