Job summary
We're looking for a Support Worker to join our Community Intensive Rehabilitation Team (CIRT).
CIRT is embedded within our mental healthcare system alongside the Community Mental Health Recovery Teams. We work with Portsmouth residents aged over 18 that have complex psychosis and related severe mental health conditions; a primary diagnosis of a psychotic illness (including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychotic depression, delusional disorders, and schizoaffective disorder) plus severe, treatment-resistant symptoms (positive and/or negative) and/or coexisting mental health problems such as severe anxiety, depressive or obsessive-compulsive symptoms or substance misuse.
We work in all community settings; though will commonly work with people living in supported accommodation, to enable optimum level of functioning and independence. We support people to develop structure and purpose in their lives promoting a sense of community and belonging.

You will need to have good communication skills along with a flexible and responsive approach and a genuine interest in working within this rewarding area of mental health.

Main duties of the job
- To work as a member of the team providing Rehabilitation services to patients in the community.
- To be available to work flexibly across a 5 day a week service with some required weekend working.
- To assist in the delivery of high standards of care to individual clients under the direction of an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Psychological Therapist
- The CIRT work in all community settings; though will commonly work with people living in supported accommodation, often long term, to enable their optimum level of functioning and independence. CIRT will support people to develop structure and purpose in their day to day lives and promote a sense of community and belonging.
- You'll have a healthcare qualification Level 2, 3 or working towards gaining equivalent level
- The CIRT are based at St Mary's Community Health Campus and are embedded within the wider community Recovery Teams. Working days are Monday to Friday and this post is 26hrs and specific working hours to be negotiated.
- Previous experience of supporting people with mental illness is desirable
