Job summary
As an appropriately experienced Registered Nurse you will be responsible for leading the Child Protection (CP) and Neurodisability (ND) Nursing Team to provide safe and effective service delivery in Community Paediatric Medical Service (CPMS)PMS East and CPMS West. You will also be responsible for co ordinating the work of the CP and Neurodisability Nursing Team, influencing clinical decisions and monitoring the quality of patient care provided through utilising and maintaining expert clinical knowledge relevant to own field of practice underpinned by theory and experience. You will support the Operational Manager and Clinical Lead to be accountable and provide leadership for service delivery within CP and ND, achieving key performance indicators and assurance of clinical governance.
We are looking for candidates who hold a professional registration with NMC and you will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to the use of a car.
The CPMS specifically provides services for children with neurodevelopmental needs, CP medicals and statutory health services for Children who are Looked After (CLA). In Southampton this also extends to General Paediatrics. Our children's service aim is to improve outcomes for children and their families by delivering well-led, safe, effective, caring and responsive services. We contribute to positive outcomes in areas such as:

- Psychological wellbeing
- Adaptation to permanent or long-term differences
Main duties of the job
- Lead and develop the nursing team within the CP and ND service.
- Act as a resource of specialised expertise providing advice for other professionals. This includes clinical work, including CP and supporting the ND service.
- Excellent communication skills to provide and receive complex, sensitive information to patients/relatives and colleagues and with empathy, persuasion and reassurance, ensure information is clearly understood, where there maybe barriers to understanding.
- Ensure effective collaboration and communication with multidisciplinary team, patients, carers
- Liaise and work with other professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies to enable children to reach their full health potential.
- Evaluate clinical outcomes and reports variance to clinical pathway, protocols, or best practice guidelines.
- Fosters inquiry and critical thinking amongst colleagues to advance nursing practice and patient/client care to ensure the provision of positive patient/client outcomes and person-centred care
We have 2 part time opportunities available:
30 hours in Portsmouth & SE Hants based at Battenberg Child Development Centre
22.5 hours in Southampton in SW Hants based a Adelaide Health Centre
