Specialist Dietitian - CAMHS Eating Disorders Team

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Eating Disorder teams based within the Portsmouth and Southampton Specialist Community CAMHS Teams. The teams provide specialist assessment and mental health treatment to young people with eating disorders i.e., anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders until the age of 18. The teams consider the mental health and the neuro developmental differences each young person may have and the context of what might have led them to difficulties with eating. Both teams have positive working relationships with the Paediatric departments within both the University Hospital Southampton and Queen Alexandra Hospital which helps to ensure the physical needs of young people are met when they are physically compromised, in relation to the presenting eating disorder. There are also strong links with the academic providers to ensure that young people can safely engage with education where appropriate.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for working in this specialist field, with evidence of relevant clinical skills and previous experience of eating disorders. You should also have experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team. Both teams are busy and hardworking, known for their friendliness, support and development opportunities. There are regular internal CPD sessions and the opportunity to engage in service evaluation and improvement.

Main duties of the job

Excellent communication skills and the ability to use different approaches flexibly to meet the needs of our patients and promote engagement are key for this post. The caseload will be challenging but fully supported by the leadership team and management approaches will be shared and discussed within the MDT. The teams have a family centred philosophy and dietetic approaches will be part of that. We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children, young people and their families with eating disorders, like anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. We would also like to develop the service assessment and knowledge of ARFID and to find appropriate dietetic interventions and strategies for these young people. We strive to support and develop our staff and are committed to working together to improve the future of our service, not only for patients and carers, but also for our staff.
