Job summary

We are looking for a child psychotherapist who also has an interest in building a therapy team.

This post has been developed to strengthen our therapeutic offer within CAMHS. There is a clear demand for expertise in attachment and trauma within the services and we are looking to prioritise this work. Other developments in the service include developing anxiety and low mood pathways, setting up and running a successful DBT programme, and developing a pathway of dedicated, highly skilled clinicians to work with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders.

We are passionate about developing our people, therefore if there is a particular area of interest we would be happy to discuss how we can support you with this. We have a fully integrated eating disorder service for children and young people and current demand on the service has enabled clinicians from wider CAMHS to gain experience and develop specialist skills in this area.

We offer an exciting and dynamic environment where your ideas and career development will be valued. The post holder will be supported directly by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a CAMHS professional with experience of working with children, young people and their families as well as continual service development and helping us improve the service and quality of care that we provide.

As part of this role, you will be working across Southampton and Portsmouth.

Main duties will include -

*To provide evidence based psychotherapeutic assessment and intervention to children and adolescents who have complex mental health difficulties.

*To provide expert professional and clinical leadership across the service. Providing expert consultation and supervision to other clinical members of the team.

*To provide expert guidance and advice to the team on the role and contribution of therapies within Specialist CAMHS

*To lead within the service on promoting clinical innovation and continual development of psychotherapy practice based upon evidence and relevant research.

*To ensure all Psychotherapists in service have appropriate governance arrangements that ensure compliance with their relevant professional bodies. To advise managers on requirements in this area.

*To contribute to core CAMHS duties such as duty and providing initial assessments as required.
