Job summary

We are a busy Level 3 integrated, open access Sexual Health Service covering Portsmouth, Southampton, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

We operate a hub and spoke model of care to provide screening, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, HIV care, provision and ongoing management of PrEP and PEPSE, contraception including emergency contraception, vasectomy, sexual health promotion, sexual health advising and partner notification, psychosexual counselling and an outreach service. We also offer a range of specialist sexual health clinics for clients with an identified need or vulnerability.

The service offers an online screening service and an advice and signposting telephone line in addition to appointments.Patients are often able to receive a diagnosis, treatment and a plan for follow up care in one appointment.

The service works in partnership with GPs, social care, nurse specialists and midwives, unplanned pregnancy service and specialist young people's services to provide the highest quality care for our patients.

This position is for 30 hours p/week to be worked around Southampton City and The New Forest.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Sexual Health Promotion Team to identify local priorities and meet key performance outcomes.To use local needs assessments and statistical data to deliver evidence-based interventions to engage target groups most at risk of sexual ill health, including identified vulnerable young people and adults, BME, LGBT young people and adults, MSM and commercial sex workers.To lead on the planning, delivery, and evaluation of 1-1 brief interventions to empower clients to make healthy lifestyle choices and improve long term sexual health.To work with partner organisations to plan, deliver and evaluate innovative sexual health promotion projects, campaigns and events in communities with high rate teenage conception rates and sexual ill health.Lead on the development of locality based multi-agency forums to support the implementation, performance, and evaluation of the sexual health promotion strategy.To deliver and evaluate professional training sessions on a range of sexual health, relationship and sex education modules, internally for Solent NHS Trust and externally to voluntary organisations, Education, Primary Care and Youth Support Services in the Community.To be a named link professional to support level 2 services in Primary care, Pharmacies and YSS to promote condom distribution, pregnancy testing, and POCT.
