Job summary

"My name is Susan Jennings, I am the current Resuscitation Lead here at Solent NHS trust. I did not start my career in the community, before joining Solent NHS Trust I worked in operating theatres for several years. This was a great change for me and has enabled me to further develop my career and learn more about the NHS. If you are someone looking for a fresh challenge, I am keen to hear from you! If you are highly motivated, enjoy teaching and sharing your knowledge/skills with others you could be the person we are looking for to join our resuscitation team."

The role involves planning, organising and delivering our trust resuscitation courses in line with the Core Skills for Health Framework. Our courses range from basic life support training to more advanced deterioration and resuscitation training courses. We support the education of staff both in adult and paediatric services who support a wide range of patients across the organisation.

Alongside these courses we also provide simulation and bespoke training for teams, as well as basic life support sessions for patients their carers, family and friends out in the community. The resuscitation team is a small, busy team but in exchange for your enthusiasm and passion for the role, we can support you with personal development, flexible working and individual well-being.

Main duties of the job

The resuscitation team support the clinical care of patients at risk of deterioration and/or cardiac arrest through clinical, operational, educational, and governance activities across the organisation.

The post involves running practical and theoretical training courses across sites within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Considerable flexibility is expected to support the trusts training programmes and setting up/packing away equipment after courses. The role will require the post holder to undertake the physical effort of teaching CPR on a weekly basis and moving resuscitation/training equipment between trusts sites. A valid UK driving license is essential for this role due to travel requirements and the need to transport resuscitation/training equipment between sites.

Training is an essential part of this role; however, the post holder will also act as a key resource in the organisation providing expert advice regarding deterioration. Teams will also link with the post holder post incidents for support with staff debriefs and incident investigation as and when required.
