Job summary
We have the opportunity to recruit a static MSK Band 5 Physiotherapist to work within our Musculoskeletal Teams in both Southampton and Portsmouth areas. We are looking for motivated individuals with MSK experience who are passionate about delivering high quality patient care and wish to develop their career alongside our team of physiotherapists, clinical specialists, exercise rehabilitation instructors and FCP's.
You will be responsible for delivering evidence based patient care to a varied caseload of MSK patients. The Solent MSK service prides itself on developing individuals and this is an opportunity for individuals who see their future in MSK. There are many opportunities for development with high quality teaching and regular supervision. You will have the time to both consolidate and further develop skills as the service is actively involved in research and quality improvement.
Recent service developments include delivery of a Combined Psychological and Physical Programme for chronic low back pain in collaboration with IAPT services, and a Fibromyalgia Living Well Programme. Solent MSK Service also delivers an extensive FCP service within our region.
We have a good support network and clinical teams are led by Pathway Leads in collaboration with Clinical Specialists and Team Leaders. You will have the ability to develop your supervision and mentorship skills with opportunities to supervise assistant/technicians and undergraduate students.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake skilled MSK assessments using advanced clinical reasoning skills and a variety of assessment techniques to provide accurate diagnosis.
- To develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence based treatment.
- To communicate effectively with patients to progress rehabilitation and treatment programmes including those who may have additional communication needs.
- Manage own caseload, using specialist knowledge and skills as an autonomous practitioner, including maintenance of comprehensive records.
- To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable as an autonomous practitioner for all aspects of your own professional activities, to carry a clinical caseload of patients for whom you are responsible.
- To keep up to date with evidence base, current national and developments and utilise this knowledge and best practice.
- To maintain a high-level clinical skill set within the team to ensure high quality and compassionate care for all patients.
- To supervise technicians, assistant and undergraduate students.
- To participate in appropriate research / evaluation and service improvement projects.
- To ensure all care delivered empowers patients to recover their independence at the earliest opportunity.
