Job summary

We are looking for experienced Mental Health Nurses with sound leadership skills to join our inpatient services to ensure the effective management on our adult acute and PICU and wards at St James' Hospital in Portsmouth.

Working in Portsmouth offers a diverse inner-city client base where your role will be working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, advocating for patients, and supporting colleagues in providing high standards of care and safety.

You will possess skills in leadership, an ability to role model, coach and mentor junior colleagues and students, providing supervision and engagement. You will relish the role of a Charge Nurse, leading by example and supporting colleagues and teams in overcoming challenges and problem solving any complex clinical issues.

Main duties of the job

  • Work to the organisational Values of Honesty, Everyone Counts, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork (HEART), show in your behaviour that you value people and the care you give to them.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a residential setting using role modelling and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of holistic, recovery care to all service users, through the supervision of staff at lower grades and in the implementation of the Care Programme Approach.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to hours of duty in order to meet the needs of the service over the twenty-four-hour period.
