Job summary

Are you looking for a new challenge?

Solent NHS Trust along with partners have been successful in securing HEE funding in training EMDR therapists nationally. We aim to support up to 168 suitably qualified therapists to become trained in EMDR and reach accreditation status over two years of supervision post training. This role is designed to help co-ordinate the enrolment of trainees and lead on their EMDR supervision.

This post will sit with Solent NHS IAPT service Talking Change and part of the role will be support our IAPT clinical delivery.

You will have professional registration Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, or equivalent and/or basic professional qualification in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy

We are looking for someone with strong communication Skills, written and verbal and knowledge of and commitment to Equal Opportunities and Promoting Diversity. You will be able to work collaboratively with colleagues across a range of agencies. Being self-motivated and able to organise a large/varied workload. You will have experience of supervising other mental health professionals and teaching/training within EMDR modality including supervision of supervision.

Main duties of the job

Solent NHS Trust has been successful in securing HEE contract to lead in partnership with EMDR academy to provide EMDR therapy for suitably qualified therapists. The training will be offered nationally and will support clinicians to work towards EMDR accreditation.

To provide EMDR Training and Supervision for suitably qualified therapists. We are pleased to invite applications from EMDR consultants to help with the supervision for the delegates coming into the programme.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorial level training in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, or equivalent and/or basic professional qualification in Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy
  • Training and experience conferring consultancy status in EMDR

Desirable

  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists/ psychological therapists.

Experience

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment, including EMDR, of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, in-patient settings and particularly in primary care.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse, and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Experience of supervising other mental health professionals and teaching/training within EMDR modality including supervision of supervision
  • Experience of the application of EMDR, and other evidence based interventions, for different clinical presentations in line with NICE guidelines
  • Experience of the application of EMDR, and other evidence based interventions, in different cultural contexts.
  • Experience of managing other mental health professionals
