Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our Talking Therapies Portsmouth Service. The post-holder will work within the Talking Therapies service providing high quality CBT for Depression and anxiety disorders, in accordance with NICE guidance and Talking Therapies national programme recommendations.

The Step 3 team provide both remote and face to face support to clients undertaking individual and group CBT. Therapists are encouraged to develop an area of special interest, consistent with service need, and to contribute to the overall development of the team and services provided.

This post is also suitable for those coming who have an interest or training in other modalities such as EMDR, ACT and CFT. We are expanding as a service which offers a range of opportunities including Long Term Conditions pathways and the Integrated Support Service, bridging the gap for Primary and Secondary Care patients.

Main duties of the job

Talking Change is a well-established and high performing Talking Therapies service provided by Solent NHS Trust and commissioned by NHS Portsmouth CCG. The service was launched in 2009 to provide evidence based psychological interventions for the population of Portsmouth in primary care. The service has recently been funded to expand as part of the national and regional initiative to help improve access for LTC and Military Personnel and their families and carer. We have a clinical team comprising of therapists, practitioners and counsellors as well as employment advisors. The clinical services provided to clients are supported by competent, friendly and efficient Admin team. The service provides brief intervention CBT as well as non-CBT depression treatment such as EMDR, NET, DIT, CfD, Couples Therapy for depression, IPT, CFT and ACT.

Job responsibilities

*Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service

*Make decisions on suitability of new referrals in accordance with the screening and assessment system in place across the service, participating as required in the process and supporting colleagues as appropriate

*Assess clients for suitability for CBT and other therapies offered by the service

*Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients

*Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.

*Adhere to an agreed level of activity relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

*Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.

*Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.

*Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols

*Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.

*Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process

*Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback.
