Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual, able to work flexibly and to tight deadlines, demonstrating excellent time management skills and be effective at working autonomously and collaboratively, across Service Lines and Departments.

From time to time, we require additional resource and support to undertake values-led investigations as part of our People policies and procedures, and this is in the form of additional capacity into the Trust where our internally trained investigators may be capacity limited. This post is to support the Investigation Officer capacity for Solent.

The post holder will be commissioned, as required, to undertake People Investigations, in line with the Trust's relevant people policies, which will require undertaking a thorough investigation into concerns or allegations, with an analysis of tangible evidence, and the ability to synthesise and coherently present a summary of the findings within an investigation report.

The position will require an understanding of Just Culture and be able to confidently operate with EDIB at the forefront of how they approach matters. You will be provided with an Induction into the Trust's process for Investigations, and you will be supported by the Commissioning Manager and People Partner.

Main duties of the job

  • Be responsible for managing and planning of complex investigations, including where possible, lessons learnt to ensure slimier incidents do not reoccur.
  • Be required to ensure investigations are managed and investigated in accordance with Trust and National procedures (where applicable). The post holder will be required to ensure appropriate linkage of such investigations to complaints, and other departments within the Trust as appropriate.
  • Be responsible for ensuring any lessons to be learned as a consequence of the investigation are identified and shared with the relevant key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that appropriate clinical advice is sought and provided for any investigation.
  • Will provide advice and guidance on Trust investigations with the support of the appropriate People Partner
  • Will have sound IT skills and a solid track record of delivering Investigations in complex, fast paced, multi-disciplinary environments. You will be committed to working within our values and will need to demonstrate an understanding and respect for equality, diversity and inclusion. Experience of working in an NHS setting would be desirable but not essential.
