Job summary

A full time, permanent band 7 post has become available in the Solent Podiatry Team.

We are looking for a podiatrist with a high level of expertise and knowledge in the at-risk foot. Your role will involve provision of specialist assessment, treatment and supporting patients with foot disease affecting the foot and ankle who may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentations. There are opportunities to work alongside consultants within diabetes multidisciplinary clinics. You will preferably have up-to-date IRMER training with knowledge of infection management, offloading and indications for further tests and investigations. You should have a proven track record of clinical experience and CPD in these areas. There are also opportunities to work clinically within rheumatology, musculoskeletal and nail surgery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Support the Clinical lead and or Operational Lead in implementing strategy changes to the service
  • Work within their clinical competency and in accordance with Health Care Professions Council and local policy
  • Establish, deliver and evaluate care plans within a multi-disciplinary team including, Medical, Nursing and AHP Practitioners to Consultant / Professor level as requested
  • Undertake the management of business contracts using business performance data as appropriate in liaison with clinical lead
  • Assist in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols relevant to the service
  • Maintain a clinical caseload and act as a source of specialist advice to colleagues, GP's and other healthcare professionals
  • Represent Podiatry at appropriate groups/committees in Solent NHS Trust to influence the type and quality of care provided
  • Working with patients with diabetic, rheumatoid, vascular foot disease or complex pain (both acute and chronic) commonly at the acute stage on a daily basis to maximise improvement through high levels of technical skill and behaviour change management.
  • Working with teams and individuals to influence the type and quality of care provided across the 'at risk foot' and MSK pathway
  • Work along side and receive referral from other health professionals to agree care plans to prevent/manage podiatric conditions
