Job summary
Our Special Care Dental Service provides treatment to adults and children with a variety of needs including, learning and physical disabilities, dental anxiety and developmental disorders. Care will predominantly be carried out in our clinics, but where possible we will go out into community settings to ensure the patients comfort.
We're looking for an apprentice for two different clinics, one based at the Royal South Hants in Southampton and one based in Cowes, Isle of Wight.
Working with us at our Special Care Dental Clinic you will learn general administration skills whilst supporting our business support and clinical teams with telephone queries, appointment bookings, ensuing our systems are kept up to date and providing positive customer service to any visitors to the team. Working days are Monday-Friday with hours to be discussed at the interview. As this is an apprenticeship, full time hours are needed to fulfil the requirements of the qualification.
After studying and learning on the job, you will qualify after 15 months with a Level 2 in Customer Service.

Main duties of the job
- Use and populate the electronic record system for clinical records or other service systems with accurate information
- Follow agreed processes for dealing with emails on Outlook and nhs.net, on a daily basis prioritising both urgency and importance, taking responsibility for signposting or dealing with queries regarding arising issues
- Monitor and action emails coming into generic email accounts as required
- Photocopying, scanning and electronic filing accurately and securely
- Populate systems and databases required for service delivery
