Job summary
Solent NHS Trust are looking for someone to join our catering team to work in the picking and packing area. The role will require you to receive deliveries, complete the necessary accompanying paperwork and store in the correct manner.
You will also be expected to provide wards with the food and other catering related items and deliver them to satellite units in our catering van so a full driving licence is essential for this role.
The position is for 15 hours a week, 2 x 7.5 hour shifts over a 4 week rota to include some weekend work.
Main duties of the job
- Support in the production of meals for patient staff and visitors
- Ensuring that correct hygiene working methods are observed at all times with particular attention to the separation of raw & cooked foods
- Ensuring food delivered and received meet with the Department's policy on standards and quality, by undertaking physical checks and temperature probing of all appropriate foodstuffs
- Ensuring that relevant paperwork is complete, for example HACCP fridge/freezer temperatures
- Ensuring work patterns & production schedules are observed & notifying your manager where deviations to accepted limits are experienced
- Maintain high standards of personal care at all times
- Working in a clean tidy manner "cleaning as you go"
- Assisting with the cleaning of premises and equipment, using the dishwasher where appropriate
- Adhering to the colour coding policies
- Ensuring equipment is kept clean and in good working order, inspecting it on a regular basis
- Reporting mechanical and other defects to management
- Wear the uniform provided & personal protective equipment as specified
- Delivery of meals to ward or storage areas
