Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge - Nurse Main Outpatients & Phlebotomy

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our busy Main Outpatients Department and Phlebotomy at Solihull. Main Outpatient supports a wide range of specialties, including both surgical and medical clinics.

This is a key leadership role within a dynamic, forwardthinking multidisciplinary team committed to delivering highquality, patientcentred care. Phlebotomy provides a full service to the wards, outpatients and antenatal.

You will play a pivotal role in the daytoday management of the department, ensuring safe and effective clinical practice, supporting service development, and fostering a positive, inclusive team culture. Outpatient services were recently awarded Outstanding following their CQC inspection, and we are looking for someone who is passionate, proactive, and dedicated to continuing this standard of excellence. The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader who can drive quality improvement, support innovation, and maintain the high level of patient care that our services are recognised for.

Main duties of the job

Provide visible, supportive leadership to nursing and support teams across Main Outpatients and Phlebotomy.

Ensure safe, effective, and evidencebased care is consistently delivered to all patients.

Support the development and implementation of clinical pathways, quality initiatives, and service improvements.

Lead, develop, and motivate staff through coaching, supervision, performance reviews, and ongoing professional development.

Oversee workforce planning, including rota coordination, staffing allocation, and effective skillmix utilisation.

Maintain high standards of infection prevention, safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management.

Work collaboratively with consultants, AHPs, administrative teams, and operational leads to ensure smooth clinic flow and an excellent patient experience.

Promote a culture of learning, innovation, and continuous quality improvement, in line with the department's Outstanding CQC rating.
