Job summary
The MS MDT Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Multiple Sclerosis Multidisciplinary Team pathway. This role is responsible for managing the MS MDT inbox, coordinating patient referrals, and maintaining accurate and comprehensive data within the MDT waiting list. The post holder ensures all referrals meet the required minimum dataset, completes and manages clinical proformas, and tracks key information such as MRI requests and outcomes.
The coordinator works closely with consultants, MS nurses, pharmacists, and neuroradiologists to prepare and organise MDT meetings, ensuring patient cases are prioritised appropriately and documentation is complete and accessible. During and after MDT meetings, the role supports accurate recording, communication, and dissemination of outcomes, as well as updating clinical systems and databases. The position also supports urgent virtual MDTs, ensuring governance processes are followed and patient care is not delayed.

Main duties of the job
The MS MDT Coordinator is responsible for the effective administration and coordination of the Multiple Sclerosis Multidisciplinary Team (MS MDT) process. This includes managing the MS MDT inbox, ensuring accurate data capture, coordinating referrals, and supporting the delivery of timely, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain the MS MDT inbox, ensuring all referrals are processed promptly and accurately recorded on the MDT waiting list spreadsheet. Verify that referrals include the minimum dataset and return incomplete submissions for clarification. Complete and store appropriate proformas (RRMS, PPMS, SPMS) and ensure all patient information, including MRI status, is up to date.
Coordinate MRI requests via IEP, track outstanding imaging, and ensure correct patient registration on relevant systems. Maintain clear communication exclusively through the MS MDT inbox to ensure transparency and continuity of care.
Prepare MDT meetings by organising patient lists, confirming consultant availability, prioritising urgent cases, and distributing documentation within agreed timelines. Support MDT meetings by preparing materials and ensuring accurate documentation of outcomes.
Post-MDT, update databases, upload outcomes to clinical systems, distribute results to relevant teams, and manage follow-up actions including relisting patients where required. Support urgent virtual MDT processes in line with governance requirements.
