Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer to join our busy and supportive pharmacy team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a service that plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive their medicines safely, efficiently and on time across the Trust.
Working within a large and dynamic hospital pharmacy department, you will gain experience across several areas including reception, stores and distribution and ward deliveries. The role is varied and hands-on, involving close working with pharmacists, technicians and clinical teams to support the safe supply and movement of medicines throughout the hospital.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, has strong attention to detail and takes pride in delivering high standards of service. You will be supported with training and development opportunities, including working towards recognised pharmacy qualifications, enabling you to build valuable skills and develop within hospital pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job
Support the delivery of a safe and efficient pharmacy service by carrying out a range of technical, clerical and distribution duties within the pharmacy department, including replenishing ward stock supplies and receiving deliveries from the warehouse to ensure medicines are checked, stored and available for patient care.
Receive, book and track prescriptions using the pharmacy computer system, ensuring information is recorded accurately and directed to the correct processing pathway.
Assist with the preparation and delivery of medicines to wards and clinical areas, ensuring delivery records are accurate and signatures are obtained.
Support pharmacy stores by receiving deliveries, checking goods against delivery notes, storing stock correctly and assembling ward orders for distribution.
Work within the dispensary when required to support the supply of medicines, including assisting with dispensing activities under supervision.
Maintain emergency medicine supplies, carry out routine stock checks and support audits to ensure compliance with safety and storage standards.
Follow Trust policies, pharmacy procedures and health and safety requirements at all times.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail, good communication skills, reliability and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy healthcare environment.
