Job summary
The post holder will provide high quality, efficient administrative support to the Hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team within University Hospitals Birmingham. They will help coordinate the patient pathway for individuals with HPB cancers, including those undergoing major HPB surgery.
A key part of the role includes supporting the CNS team in delivering timely information, coordination, and communication to cancer patients throughout their cancer journey including pre- and post-surgery, and oncological treatments, ensuring they receive a seamless, compassionate, and well-organised experience.
This position requires excellent organisation, accuracy, and the ability to work professionally in a fast paced clinical service. The ability to work within a small team and autonomously is essential.
Main duties of the job
*Provide telephone cover for the CNS team, speaking with patients, taking detailed messages, and escalating concerns appropriately.
*Manage the CNS shared email inbox, including responding to queries, flagging clinical concerns, and ensuring timely communication.
*Provide general administrative support to the CNS team, including filing, scanning, data entry, preparing letters, and maintaining patient records.
*Support CNS-led services such as telephone clinics and surveillance pathways.
*Maintain accurate databases for HPB cancer patients, ensuring tracking and documentation remain up to date.
*Take part in and lead on audits to enable service improvement.
