We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Medical Oncologist (Breast) to join our forwardthinking and highly collaborative Oncology team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated clinician to contribute to a dynamic service delivering highquality, patientcentred cancer care. While applications from all subspecialties are welcomed, proven experience and a strong interest in Breast Oncology are particularly desirable.
Clinical Role
The successful candidate will bring clinical expertise and a strong commitment to the management of breast cancer. They will work closely with an experienced team of Consultant Oncologists and will be supported to develop diseasespecific interests that align with service needs and enhance patient care.
As part of a major teaching hospital, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of excellent clinical services and multidisciplinary working. Opportunities to engage with service development, quality improvement, and collaborative projects will be available for those wishing to shape and advance the breast oncology pathway. While academic engagement is not a requirement, clinicians who wish to participate in research activity will have access to established partnerships within the local cancer network.
Main duties of the job
Inpatients
The appointee will participate in the attending and on-call rota, supported by and working with clinical team's trust-wide. They will be responsible for managing a cohort of inpatients and providing specialist liaison advice.
For the ward attending commitments, the appointee will be expected to provide reciprocal cover for periods of leave.
Outpatients
The appointee will be expected to participate in number of clinics per week, predominantly dealing with their respective sub-specialties as per job plans, but also consideration for other subspecialist workload could be considered, depending on applicant's experience to date. The delivery of outpatient activity will include opportunities to support clinical trial recruitment and PI roles within the department.
Other
There will be the integrated weekly multidisciplinary team meeting, plus monthly quality meetings, educational sessions, journal clubs and mortality and morbidity meetings.
