Job summary

The Catering department has an exciting opportunity to work as part of the team at the Orchard Restaurant at Good Hope Hospital.

A Chef should have a passion for ensuring customers are provided with a friendly, safe and efficient service.

The responsibilities are:

Food preparation, handling and serving of foods across all areas of the Catering department and associated hospital sites. The post holder will require maintaining good food hygiene standards for patients, staff and visitors to the Trust in accordance with individual sites processes.

Main duties of the job

*Organise and plan own work according to work schedules and rotas

*Prepare and cook food according to a planned menu

*Exercise portion control following recipes guidelines

*Prepare food to patients when required.

*Assist in ordering of kitchen supplies in liaison with the storeman & the central production unit

*The employee is expected to be familiar with the relevant hygiene and safety legislation relating to kitchen areas and attend any refresher training.

*Adhere to all assured safe catering practices

*Help in welfare and training of assistants and students and the induction of new staff.

*Ensure work carried out by assistants is up to standard.

*Undertake any other duties appropriate to the cook's grade delegated by the senior member of staff

*Follow agreed Catering HACCP plan set for the working area or site

* Complete all necessary HACCP paperwork
