Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic Therapy Assistants with excellent communication skills to join our therapy team at Solihull Hospital.
You will have the opportunity to support the delivery of the physiotherapy and occupational therapy services to patients within the acute clinical setting. This will involve working under the supervision of registered therapists and having responsibility for an agreed clinical caseload.
The Therapy Assistant will be required to work across various acute wards including trauma and orthopaedics (T&O) and healthcare older people (HCOP) and may be required to complete domiciliary visits to patients' homes. You will be required to report back to the registered therapists regarding patient progress and maintain appropriate records of all patient interventions.
Main duties of the job
To support the delivery of the physiotherapy and occupational therapy services to patients within the acute clinical setting (T&O and HCOP) at Solihull Hospital.
This will involve accepting patients referred by the therapists for treatment, working unsupervised, reporting back regarding patient progress, informing the therapists of any problems and maintaining appropriate records. Patients will be treated according to set treatment protocols and you will be monitoring patient progression, implementing and making minor alterations to patient treatment programmes as required.
The post holder will need to be flexible, have excellent team working, organisational and time management skills, and have an awareness of the need to respect confidentiality at all times.
You will be required to complete various administration tasks alongside your clinical work. A basic knowledge of IT is desirable.
Previous experience working with elderly people or members of the general public is also desirable.
You will need to be prepared to participate in seven day working.
