Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced individual to join this well-established specialist breast care nursing service at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. This post will primarily be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Solihull Hospital sites. However, the Breast CNS teams work on all sites through the Trust, and the post holders may be required to attend clinics and meetings on other sites. This post is 1.0 WTE, though part time/job share will be considered. This post is offered as a permanent position, but internal secondment could be considered.
The post holder will work as part of the team, to help deliver an expert specialist service to patients with breast problems, particularly those diagnosed with breast cancer. The CNS team help to care for patients at all stages of their cancer journey and through a variety of treatments in a kind, compassionate manner. You will be committed to the delivery of high-quality holistic patient care and you will play an active part in clinical practice, management of patient caseload, education, research, audit and professional activities relating to breast cancer care.
Main duties of the job
The Breast CNS team is undergoing changes relating to the integration of the services across all sites. The post holder must be committed to developing these services to enhance the delivery of patient care and patient experience and you will need to be pro-active in these service developments. There are opportunities for development and education -- it is expected that the successful candidates will study for a recognised breast care nursing certificate as part of their learning.
This will involve a clinical caseload where you can demonstrate high quality nursing care whilst developing your skills. This role will be integral to the development of the team and will involve supporting the lead CNS in a cross-srole. This will suit someone with excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to foster effective working relationships. There will be opportunities for learning and development within this role.

*At least 2 years current experience as a Band 5 or above in breast care or oncology nursing setting
*1st Level Related Degree or working towards
*Evidence of specialist post basic training and education
