Job summary
Applications are invited for a 10 PA Specialty Doctor post in the Umbrella Sexual Health Service.
The sexual health service (branded as Umbrella) provides an integrated sexual health service to the entire population of Birmingham and Solihull. The main hub is based at the purpose-built Whittall Street Clinic in Birmingham and there are seven satellite clinics locations across Birmingham and Solihull. The service deals with approximately 100,000 patient episodes per annum.
The post involves leading on the development of clinical policies and strategic oversight for the implementation of national guidelines and procedures relating to sexual health.
This post provides an opportunity to join an established and proactive team to respond to the needs of our growing service.
Applicants must be on the GMC register and hold a licence to practise.
Main duties of the job
*Leading on clinical policies & procedures relating to sexual health.
*Oversight and strategy for developing, reviewing, updating & circulating changes to clinical policies in line with local, national guidelines, best evidence, and Trust priorities.
*Chairing quarterly clinical policies and procedures meeting with consultants.
*Supporting Umbrella Consultant Clinical Governance lead by supervising staff to undertake clinical audit/quality improvement projects.
*Providing educational & clinical supervision for FY2, LED and nurses
*Supporting Umbrella education, training team, and working collaboratively with consultant leads in.
*Provision of comprehensive training for clinical staff within Umbrella including STIF portfolio
*Upskilling staff outside Umbrella e.g. medical students, GPs, Pharmacists, specialty Drs,
*Lead on coordination and contribute to supervision of clinical attachments within Umbrella for external doctors that fall outside FSRH accredited training (including medical student electives)
*Taking on role of expert decision maker within integrated (SRH and GUM) Sexual Health clinics by undertaking role as supervising Doctor supporting delivery of integrated care to clients according to the national and local guidelines.
*Regular provision of integrated sexual health care to clients according to the national and local guidelines
*Provision of a specialist clinic/s relating to sexual health or HIV care, adhering to national guidelines and evidence or expert-based practice.

*Maintaining accurate medical records according to the GMC and Trust's standards. Issue of clear and accurate clinical summary for the benefit of the General Practitioner and other agencies when necessary.
*Working closely with other Consultants and disciplines in the integrated sexual health service and liaising with other relevant specialties e.g. Dermatology, urology.
*Working in Sexual Health Clinics on Saturdays, pro- rota.
This is an out-patient based service delivered 6 days a week from 2 clinics based in Birmingham City centre and 5 other satellite clinics distributed across Birmingham and Solihull. The post-holder would be expected to work on Saturdays in rotation, working within the nationally recommended timeframes. It is not anticipated to be significantly physically demanding but can be mentally and emotionally demanding at times.
Working conditions will align with Trust guidance.
