Band 6 Senior Respiratory Support Unit Dietitian

Job summary

An exciting opening has arisen for a Senior Dietitian to work within our Specialist Respiratory MDT The chosen candidate will provide specialist advice to patients with existing chronic respiratory conditions such as COPD, bronchiectasis, patients in acute respiratory failure due to pneumonia or chest infections and patients from critical care. Dietetic input is vital for patients to continue their rehabilitation to help support exercise tolerance and functional recoveryThe chosen candidate will join a dynamic acute medicine team of assistants and dietitians led by a dedicated Band 7 Specialist Dietitian. With support you will be involved in designating and applying innovative dietetic treatment pathways. Due to the nature of the position there will be scope to complete research, audits and showcase dietetics. You will actively participate in development, education, and delivery of training to various healthcare professionals and students. Applicants must have post registration experience within a wide range of clinical areas and have specialist knowledge and skills in assessing and treating of a wide range of pathologies

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a friendly team, which forms part of the larger dietetic team at the QE Hospital of over 50 dietitians covering various specialities. You will work closely with therapy colleagues and the band 7 team leader, to develop the respiratory service. You will be supporting the wider team and junior members in a fast-paced environment so good leadership and communication skills are essential to this role.

You will take on a valuable role in the assessment and treatment of a variety of complex patients so the applicant will ideally have experience within a range of specialities including acute medicine and respiratory and a wide range of experience in enteral feeding and oral nutritional support.
