Band 7 Macmillan Dietitian Team Lead

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Dietitian to lead the Macmillan Dietetic therapy team and promote service development within this specialist clinical area of oncology Dietetics for a 12-month secondment period. The team lead role within the Macmillan Dietetic team will be required to provide highly specialised dietetic support to cancer patients whilst being responsible for the provision and development of dietitians and the nutrition and dietetic services to cancer teams across Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals. The Macmillan Dietetic service covers a wide range of oncology specialities including, but not limited to, acute haematology, ENT, gynaecology and upper gastrointestinal. The clinical caseload comprises of acute inpatient and outpatient clinics and works closely alongside our multidisciplinary colleagues. The successful applicant will receive training from an experienced multidisciplinary team in the care of oncology patients. This will expose the successful applicant to a wide range of oncology conditions with a variety of therapy interventions. The successful candidate will have a pivotal role in the leadership and development of the Macmillan dietetic team supporting the growth and development of the workforce.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will work under leadership of Therapy Services alongside a supportive oncology multi-professional therapy team. You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to support oncology dietetic care at a targeted and specialist level. We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative candidate with expertise in cancer care and experience of clinical service development and evaluation. It is essential you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate great leadership of the team. You will be expected to manage your own clinical caseload and take an active approach to their own personal development. We actively encourage CPD, training and research. The post holder must have good experience of close multi-professional working and demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills. You must be able to manage and prioritise a demanding complex caseload with flexibility and resilience.
