Arthroplasty Outreach Service Specialist Nurse

What's the role?

As an Arthroplasty Specialist Nurse, you will be a fundamental part of our evolving multi-disciplinary service - triaging and reviewing arthroplasty patients virtually or at home following acute hospital discharge. Applying sound clinical knowledge, orthopaedic experience and excellent time management skills, you will complete both nursing and therapy competencies to be able to support all aspects of the patient's recovery at home. You will also support the management of the 7-day Wound Care Helpline, supporting in the early identification of potential infections and surgical wound management.

  • *Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
  • *Evidence of post registration CPD / post registration qualification in appropriate area of speciality (Arthroplasty/orthopaedics) or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6

Desirable

  • *Evidence of leadership training.

  • *Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
  • *Significant post registration experience, with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for the associated area of specialist practice (Arthroplasty/Orthopaedics)
  • *Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of on-going professional development/ competence
  • *Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to speciality (Arthroplasty/Orthopaedics)
  • *Experience and enthusiasm for teaching/assessing and supervising others in a clinical setting
  • *Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment
  • *Demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice-based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the NMC

  • *Good understanding of the NHS and discharge pathways

  • *An ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis.
  • *An ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing/emotional situations.

  • *Hold a full category B car licence preferably clean with no more than a maximum of 3 points and business insurance
  • *Access to and willingness to use own vehicle to travel to patients' homes.
