We are looking for an enthusiastic dedicated, self-motivated Registered Nurse to join our Adult Cystic Fibrosis Team as a Specialist in Diabetes, within The Birmingham University Hospitals Trust. Are you looking for an exciting challenge where you can work within a dynamic team?
Birmingham Heartlands Hospital (UHB) hosts the Regional West Midlands Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre. The CF Centre is nationally recognised as a centre of excellence and provides full time care for around 400 adults with CF. There is 20 bedded inpatient ward, a dedicated outpatient department and a well-established, high quality home care service. The centre continues to be at the forefront of clinical research. Our portfolio includes clinical trials and grant funded research.
The successful applicant will be an addition to the specialist MDT and work alongside an experienced CF Diabetes nurse, to manage and lead diabetes care in people with CF providing high quality, evidence based, individualised care and treatment in the community, outpatient and inpatient settings.
The successful applicant will act as a resource offering specialist advice, support and education, to patients, carers and other health care professionals. You will be responsible for contributing to and leading the on-going development of diabetes clinical practice.

Main duties of the job
To lead, develop and provide a specialist diabetes nursing service for adults with cystic fibrosis related diabetes (CFRD). The service covers inpatients, out patients and community care.
*To lead the continuous glucose monitoring service and with the multidisciplinary cystic fibrosis team, identify patients requiring continuous glucose monitoring.
*To assess, plan and implement specialist diabetes therapy to meet patients' clinical need in conjunction with the cystic fibrosis team and diabetes consultant.
*To act as a key contact in providing specialist cystic fibrosis diabetes advice and education for patients, families, carers and support healthcare professionals at the West Midlands Adult CF centre.
*To supervise and direct the caseload of the CF support worker.
*To initiate and undertake research and clinical audit.
*To contribute towards achieving diabetes NSF and Cystic Fibrosis Trust standards.
*To have an in-depth knowledge of all statutory guidance.

- * Evidence of post registration CPD / Post registration qualification in (appropriate area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to degree / masters level equivalent FHEQ Level 6 /7
- * Recognised mentorship course
Desirable
- * To have or working towards a MSc/ Masters qualification
- * To have or working towards advanced health assessment module -- where applicable to the role
- * Non -- Medical Prescriber/ willingness to undertake - where applicable to the role

- * Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
- * Significant years post registration experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at B6 or above in defined or associated speciality Extensive experience of working autonomously
