Band 3 BMT Team Administrator

Job summary

Due to retirement of a longstanding colleague, the BMT Coordinator team have an exciting opportunity for an administrator to join the team, based in the Centre for Clinical Haematology at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The successful candidate will work alongside the BMT Coordinator nursing team providing administrative support to ensure the smooth coordination of the allogenic bone marrow transplant pathway.

The successful candidate will be organised and have high levels of IT competency with experience of using MS Excel, MS Teams and Outlook. Experience of using IT systems within the NHS would be desirable, e.g. Oceano, NHS Spine. Communication with patients and colleagues from a range of organisations will form a key part of the role, so effective and compassionate communication skills will be essential.

Main duties of the job

*Answering and triaging telephone calls, signposting patients and colleagues to the appropriate member of staff/department or answering queries within your scope of practice

*Taking messages for the BMT Coordinators via telephone

*Checking the joint email inbox

*Scheduling work up tests for patients and sending appointment letters

*Ensuring test results have been received in a timely manner and are available to the coordinator team for review

*Managing the patient waiting list and holding bay via Excel

*Registering potential donors on Oceano

*Assisting with sending related donor tissue typing packs

*Preparing paperwork for clinics

*Preparing packs for discharge planning

*Assist with data collection from audits / projects

*Ensure smooth running of BMT pathway
