Job summary
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic individuals to join our Patient Administration Team at Good Hope Hospital, we currently have two vacancies on permanent contracts.
Full time position:
This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week, working as a Ward Clerk providing support to the wards within the Maternity block at Good Hope Hospital, with occasional cover across other Good Hope wards. The role is worked over 7.5 hours per day, from 9.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. There is no requirement to work weekends or bank holidays as part of this contract.
Part time position:
This post involves working 23 hours per week as part of the team within the Same Day Emergency Care areas and the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). The successful candidate will work two 11.5-hour shifts per week on an unpatterned rota, covering both day and night shifts across a seven-day period. This role includes weekend and bank holiday working, including shifts over the Christmas and New Year period.
You will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of ward administration, helping ensure a high standard of patient care through effective record-keeping and communication.
Interviews will be held during the last week in February 2026.
Main duties of the job
As a Ward Clerk you are first point of contact and are based on the wards reception desk welcoming patients / visitors onto the ward, answering door buzzers, telephones and any queries that arise from staff or visitors.
The role will consist of a strong emphasis on data quality, customer care, taking a lead role in maintaining accurate patient notes, filing and inputting data, this will include admissions and discharges on the Trust electronic patient administration system (Oceano PAS) at all times. Provide full admin and clerical support to the ward multidisciplinary team. Effective teamwork and a keen focus on the Trusts Vision & Values are essential.
The successful applicant will have a good level of education and be able to demonstrate excellent motivational, organisational and communication skills, while having the ability to stay focused in a busy environment. You will also have good key board skills with a high level of accuracy and the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
