Band 6 Service Manager-Clinical Research Facility

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Service Manager to join the MIDRU Clinical Research Facility (MIDRU building at Heartlands Hospital). The post is available as a 2 year fixed term position.

As a Service Manager, you will be responsible for day-to-day operational management and performance within the CRF, including the administration team. You will work closely with the QE CRF and may need to travel between sites.

The Service Manager will work under the direction of the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) Deputy Manager along with the Lead Nurses to provide day to day operational support. The post holder will also provide business and managerial support in order that the activity, quality and financial objectives of our research services are successfully delivered.

We are looking for someone who can enthusiastically take on these challenges and be part of a close working and friendly team. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and enthusiasm, with good organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

Previous experience of managing a team is essential. Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage your time and adapt to daily prioritisation is important.

Main duties of the job

The Service Manager will develop and manage research information systems to monitor against targets and implement change/improvements as required. The post holder will contribute towards development of business plans and the planning and delivery of services within research.

The Service Manager will support with leadership, strategy and operational delivery. They will be responsible for the systems that collect and monitor data within the team. As a member of the operational management team, they will work on a range of performance activities and deputise for the Lead Nurse when required. The ability to interpret and report data, alongside strong administrative and IT skills are important for this role.
