Job summary

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the Stroke and Neurological Therapy Team at Good Hope Hospital as a permanent Band 6 Physiotherapist.

Based within the acute team, you will work across the Acute Stroke Unit, Stroke at the Front Door, and contribute to providing high quality rehabilitation for a diverse range of neurological presentations throughout the hospital.

You will join an established, supportive and well respected multidisciplinary team, with excellent opportunities for development in clinical skills, leadership, education and service improvement.

About You

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist who is:

*HCPC registered

*Experienced in stroke and neurology within the NHS, with the skills required for a senior clinical role

*Passionate about working with people living with neurological conditions

*Able to demonstrate strong time management, prioritisation and organisational skills

*A committed team player with a positive, patient centred approach to care

You will be expected to participate in seven day working rota, alongside supporting the respiratory on-call service for which ongoing training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

-To deliver a high standard of physiotherapy assessment and intervention to patients within the stroke and neurological population. This will include the use of specialist handling skills, evidence based practice, and the effective progression of rehabilitation in line with individual patients' needs and person centred goals.

-Demonstrate strong diagnostic skills in symptoms of neurological injury and will apply effective management from presentation through to discharge.

-Work autonomously while contributing collaboratively to the multidisciplinary team. Be responsible for managing own caseload, including patients with complex physical, psychological, and cognitive presentations.

-Work closely with colleagues from a variety of teams to support the daily running of the service, balancing clinical demands with organisational priorities. They will partake in service development and quality improvement.

-The role includes providing support, mentorship, leadership, and specialist advice to staff members, students, and other professionals. This will include tailored supervision and teaching as required.

-At times, the post holder will take on delegated managerial responsibilities and may be required to deputise for senior team members, including aspects of day to day operational management.

-Participate in seven day working, extended hours, and the physiotherapy respiratory overnight on call service. Ongoing training and competency development will be provided as required.

  • Registered with Healthcare Professions Council (HCPC).
  • A levels or equivalent qualification.
