Job summary

The Clinical Support Worker (CSW) will undertake high quality, caring and compassionate personal care and associated duties under the direction and supervision of registered professionals working as part of a multi-disciplinary health and care team.

The post holder will:

*Participate in the delivery of personal patient centred care, always maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude with patients, their families and carers.

*Contributes to the service/ team organisation.

*Support registered nurses/ nursing associates and Allied Health Care professionals

(AHP's) in the provision of a caring and safe environment.

Main duties of the job

Provides and participates in the provision of physical and personal care to patients associated with the role.

Provide care, support for elimination (bowel and bladder care and drains)

Maintaining privacy & dignity

Support patients and provide care to enable eating/drinking

Respond swiftly to individuals, who require assistance,where required report this to a registered practitioner.

Undertake/assist with duties including the preparation of patients for treatment, investigation, transfer, discharge, procedures.

Chaperone/escort patients and act as an advocate for patients during examination by clinical staff.

Support patients to maintain their own privacy /dignity where care /treatment may require the

patient to undress/need chaperone or have intimate procedures conducted.

Actively promote the prevention of cross infection to and from all patients, visitors' staff and

the environment, by encouraging and educating others in the use of standard precautions.

Should an incident concerning conflict or security occur take appropriate steps to protect the safety of self and others using agreed security processes.

Act professionally undertaking care duties associated with the role to an agreed level of competence associated with the position.

Act primarily to care for and safeguard the public and people who are receiving care and treatment, practice in a safe, compassionate, and patient centred manner.
