Job summary

As a key member of the Hospital senior leadership team, you will provide expert advice & strong clinical leadership, driving high and consistent standards in patient care, safety & clinical effectiveness.

This is a pivotal role within our hospital site, designed to strengthen strategic nursing & AHP leadership, champion clinical quality & drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities:

*Provide professional, strategic, visible leadership across the multi professional workforce

*Lead & inspire teams to champion excellence in clinical practice and professional standards.

*Coordinate & lead improvement on patient quality, experience & safety alongside workforce development & safe staffing embedding governance & assurance at all levels

*Work collaboratively with senior medical, operational & corporate colleagues driving the hospital site strategy supporting transformation

*Support the Hospital Director of Nursing to shape and deliver the site Nursing & AHP priorities

*Drive forward & influence Nursing & AHP education & research

*Line manages key teams/ individuals

*Function as a key decision maker & trusted deputy to the Hospital Director of Nursing

Main duties of the job

Post holders should have a proven track record of operational service management at a senior nursing level within an acute hospital setting. You will be a confident and committed clinical leader who is driven by challenges and demonstrates personal resilience working in a fast-moving and changing care environment.

You should have experience at a senior level in staff, financial and change management, leading by example, motivating and empowering teams to ensure consistently high standards of care and experience are set and delivered.

The successful post holder will, in conjunction with the Hospital director of nursing and Hospital medical director, participate in and lead innovative improvement projects which support the productivity and performance agendas.

The postholder will work alongside the Hospital Nursing Director to implement best practice, and disseminate learning from incidents, risk management & complaints, taking action to prevent the recurrence of events.

They will be accountable for the provision of expert nursing and clinical advice and will input into operational and strategic issues including the development and implementation of strategy and policy which ensures that corporate and Hospital objectives are achieved within agreed timescales.

The post holder will deputise for the Hospital Nursing Director, when required, both internally and externally to the organisation.
