Band 3 Ward Controller - Logistics

Job summary

In this role the successful candidate will be taking on stock challenges on a day to day basis, you would be responsible for checking and rotating both medical/surgical and pharmaceutical stock ensuring wards have enough supplied to give the best patient care.

As a member of the Logistics team you will be required to adopt a flexible approach towards any procurement and logistics activities required to support the service and/or department.

The post at this level contain a range of tasks, some of which require the use of initiative whilst operating within broad procedural guidelines and requires a degree of independent judgement.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for replenishing goods at ward, theatre and departmental level using bar code systems as appropriate. They will assist Trust Clinical staff, end users and local budget holders to set, review and maintain optimum stocking levels for ward, theatres and department portfolio's, ensuring optimum inventory levels within the agreed ROQ/ROL levels and supporting in stock rationalisation, standardisation and minimising waste by undertaking good logistics principles (e.g. stock rotation).

*The post holder will deliver laboratory supplies such as blood culture bottles, MRSA swabs and universal containers on an ad hoc basis to wards, theatres and other departments.

*The post holder will establish clear priorities, highlight trends, initiate and corrective action and carry out any special exercises as required to ensure the integrity of the Logistics service. The post holder will report all exceptions to the Internal Logistics Manager and/or Internal Deputy Logistics Manager.

*The post holder will ensure the delivery of goods is accurate, on time and stored in a professional manner.

*The post holder must ensure stock management principles and lean supply requirements are applied to all stock levels held in the Trust.
