Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic physiotherapist keen to progress their skills within stroke and neurology. This is a rare opportunity to join a team offering specialist band 6 neurological rotations across a variety of in and outpatient teams. Rotations include the acute stroke unit at BHH, neurology in reach at BHH, stroke early supported discharge teams and neurology outpatients (HONOR).

The right candidate will be someone who demonstrates leadership capability and a strong foundation in neurology. This role provides the opportunity to step into Band 6 responsibilities, with structured guidance and support. The candidate will be responsible for their own caseload with senior support.

This rotational post offers the opportunity to work with various MDTs and professions across acute and community settings. The post will allow the person to deliver high quality specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for patients with stroke, spinal pathology, brain injuries and acute and progressive neurological conditions.

This role offers excellent CPD and training opportunities and offers regular supervision and strong leadership support.

To participate in 7 day working and respiratory on overnight calls

Main duties of the job

To work as a Band 6 rotational neuro physiotherapist across inpatient and outpatient stroke and neurological services.

To assess, treat and manage patients with stroke and a range of other neurological conditions, using evidence-based practice. Conditions will include stroke, acquired brain injury, spinal cord injuries, persistent disorders of consciousness, progressive neurological conditions and autoimmune disorders.

To plan, implement, evaluate and progress individualised physiotherapy treatment programmes in line with patient goals.

To communicate effectively with patients who may have complex physical, cognitive and communication impairments, and with their carers as appropriate.

To work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) across inpatient and outpatient settings to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care.

To supervise, support and contribute to the development of junior physiotherapy staff, therapy assistants, students and support workers, including delegation of tasks where appropriate.

To participate in clinical supervision, appraisal and personal development planning.

To attend and contribute to in-service training, CPD activities and service-based education programmes.

To work closely with senior therapy staff, seeking advice and guidance when required and contributing to specialist clinical decision-making.
