Job summary
We are a friendly, diverse therapy team who are passionate about delivering evidence-based patient care and are seeking a dedicated, highly motivated, experienced paediatric physio.
Your focus will be early intervention (0--2 year-olds), managing an outpatient caseload, leading baby groups and providing therapeutic care for acute neuro inpatients. You will have the unique opportunity to work within specialist areas; the GMA Prechtl clinics, Bayley-4, neonatal unit, neuromuscular outpatients, plaster clinics, spasticity management and orthotics.
You will be part of a wider MDT with the opportunity for joint working and peer support.
This role is primarily based at Heartlands but you may be asked to support the services at other UHB sites when needed.
Main duties of the job
Deliver expert assessment/treatment for 0-2 year olds with a wide range of neurological conditions in 1:1 and group settings
Advance department practice: contribute to service evaluation/development
Lead/participate in clinical audit and quality improvement
Create new/review existing clinical pathways
Facilitate a positive learning environment for all team members through speciality huddles, clinical supervision and student placements
Prioritise referrals
Communicate/liaise with the internal and external MDTs

Essential
- Good standard of general education including English language and mathematics, A levels or equivalent Degree in Physiotherapy
- Registered with HCPC as a Physiotherapist Evidence of relevant postgraduate training in specialist area
Desirable
- Leadership training
- Postgraduate advanced accredited training within specialist area
- Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
- Registered member of Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists
Experience
Essential
- Relevant postgraduate experience in specialist areas relevant to the post Experience of NHS based work
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including recent courses relevant to Neurological physiotherapy
- Evidence of IT skills
- A range of suitable experience of working within a Primary Care setting and/or acute Neurological outpatient paediatric setting
- Ability to use Neurological clinical skills to systematically diagnose/assess patient/client problems
- To understand and evaluate complex situations and information to formulate an appropriate course of action. Ability to frequently modify planned activity to suit individual needs
- Experience of paediatric Neurological physiotherapy with management of complex patients
- Experience of effective staff management and leadership
- Experience of managing students at clinical tutor and supervisor levels
- Experience of training staff groups at all levels
- Evidence of working effectively in partnership with others within multidisciplinary teams and across agencies
- Experience of conducting or being involved in audit, implementing outcome measures and/or research in the specialist area
