Consultant in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine

Job summary

We are seeking an outstanding clinician to complement the current respiratory service at QEH UHBFT that comprises 20+ consultant respiratory physicians and consultant clinical scientists across several sub speciality teams and across the city.

The service has strong MDT bases that provide regional services in cystic fibrosis, interstitial and occupational lung disease, lung transplantation, severe asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis and sleep and ventilation.

Teams are supported by respiratory nurse specialists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapy and psychologists.

The Trust provides lung cancer services in conjunction with one of the largest thoracic surgery units in the country supported by a team of lung cancer nurses and MDT co-ordinators. There are state of the art lung function and sleep services including polysomnography and well-established Endobronchial Ultrasound and local anaesthetic Thoracoscopy services.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a rapidly expanding Respiratory department and will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. This post is designed to enhance respiratory in-patient and out-patient services. Applicants with a particular interest in Pulmonary Infection, Asthma, Sleep, Pleural diseases, and Interstitial Lung Disease are particularly encouraged to apply.

Taking a significant role in Clinical Governance within the respiratory department.

Develop and maintain a positive, focused and patient led team culture.

Manage the performance of staff, through coaching and mentoring to enhance their potential and
