Job summary
We are delighted to offer a full-time Locally Employed Doctor (Higher) post to work in the Rheumatology Department based at Solihull Hospital. The post is fixed for 12 months with a view to extend the contract for a further 12 months.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking team of Rheumatologists, junior doctors and clinical nurse specialists. The post would be ideal for someone wishing to enhance their skills and develop their career within Rheumatology.
The Rheumatology service has its own dedicated unit that includes an infusion suite and outpatient rooms for delivering daily urgent clinics with some clinics delivered from the main outpatients department.
The appointee will participate in a medical rota covering wards on the Solihull Hospital site.
Main duties of the job
*Provision with medical colleagues of a quality service to the Trust, with responsibility for the diagnosis and treatment of patients referred to the specialty
*Day to day management of inpatients and outpatients
*They will contribute to medical cover/rota on the Solihull Hospital site
*Requirement to participate in audit and in continuing medical education
*The appointee will continue to develop and improve the provision of Rheumatology Services
*All speciality doctors are expected to comply with continuing medical education requirements of their Royal College
*The appointee will also be expected to participate in audit and continuing professional development.
*Work with colleagues to provide a comprehensive rheumatology service for the Trust and ensure that the highest standards of care are achieved
*Contribute to the Trust's corporate and strategic objectives and undertake mandatory training required by the Trust
*Work with colleagues to meet the required activity targets of the Trust
*Demonstrate active participation in clinical audit
*Deputise for colleagues including covering for absence of leave and at short notice in exceptional circumstances
*Attend departmental meetings
*Take responsibility for personal and professional development
