Job summary
The CEO will have responsibility for leading the relationship with the host and will have oversight of services provided to HIWM under a MOU contract, ensuring a level of autonomy for the organisation to operate as an arm's length body.
HIWM has individual commitment at CEO level to membership from a wide variety of key stakeholders including universities, hospital trusts, the clinical senate and the developing Integrated Care Boards.
HIWM works in partnership with NHS trusts, industry, social care, third sector, universities the public and patients to spread innovations at scale and pace, ensuring that new healthcare and life sciences tools are available wherever they can make a difference. By enabling the healthcare system to take advantage of innovations that can help to save time, money and lives, HIWM is working to bring the West Midlands the future of health and social care, today.
Key elements of the portfolio are commissioned by NHS England (re Health and Social Care) and the Office of Life Sciences (OLS) (including academia). The post-holder will be the organisation's lead on the shaping, negotiation, contracting and delivery of all commissions, and provide active support to the Directors responsible for the NHS England and OLS Commissions.

Main duties of the job
The CEO will be the main representative of HIWM on the National Health Innovation Network Executive and will undertake, contribute and support the joint work of the Health Innovation Network.
The CEO will be responsible for ensuring good communication channels to partners such as the West Midlands Combined Authority, Local Authorities and MPs.
To work alongside and influence multiple stakeholders, including ICBs, region, the local authorities, the Board, and to be a representative on CEO forums.
As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role will have significant autonomy to establish, lead, direct and develop all aspects of the organisational offer to our stakeholders, as well as considerable influence on organisational strategy, annual plans, operational practices, and future organisation sustainability.
To uphold the values of HIWM by example, and to ensure that HIWM promotes equality and diversity for its staff, communities and other stakeholders.
To lead the consultation, assessment, planning and presentation or strategic change options to HIWM.
To lead the work, support and challenge the executive group and the board in order that the board conforms to the highest standards of corporate governance and makes appropriate decisions and provides support to the directors across their portfolios.
To be the accountable officer for HIWM management board and to ensure the annual objectives and executive business of HIWM, as agreed by the board, are delivered.
