Job summary

Heartlands Emergency Department is seeking skilled, motivated and compassionate Nurse Leaders to join our senior leadership team. Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the Emergency Department nursing team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring safe staffing levels, appropriate skill mix and rota cover.

Provide visible, effective clinical leadership across all areas of the Emergency Department.

Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of physical and psychological care, in line with local and national guidelines.

Act as a role model for professional nursing practice, ensuring care is delivered in accordance with NMC standards and in line with Trust Policies and Procedures.

Line manage and support a designated team of nurses, including supervision, appraisal and development.

Work closely with the Matron, Operational Manager, Clinical Site Team and multidisciplinary colleagues to support patient flow, escalation and operational decision-making.

Supervise and support unregistered staff in the delivery of care to acutely and chronically unwell patients from diverse backgrounds.

Contribute to quality improvement, audit and service development initiatives within the Emergency Department.

Promote a safe clinical environment, escalating concerns appropriately and supporting learning from incidents and feedback.

Foster effective communication and positive relationships with patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues.
