This is a part-time post (22.5 hours per week) delivering high-quality podiatric care across community clinics, domiciliary settings and other locations as required by service need.
The role is suitable for an experienced podiatrist or a newly qualified graduate. On successful completion of agreed competencies, the post holder will progress to Band 6.
The post holder will work autonomously to assess, diagnose and manage patients with complex podiatric conditions, while working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. Main duties of the job
The post holder will take clinical responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients referred to the podiatry service, managing a varied caseload including high-risk and complex presentations. Duties include autonomous clinical decision-making, wound assessment and management, nail surgery, debridement of skin and ulcer pathology, vascular and neurological assessment, and pressure redistribution techniques. The role involves working independently and jointly across clinic and domiciliary settings, identifying patients requiring urgent intervention and liaising appropriately with medical and nursing colleagues. You will ensure care is evidence-based, consented and documented in line with HCPC, College of Podiatry and Trust standards. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, contributing to audit and service development (including NDFA), supporting education and training, managing clinical risk, and maintaining effective communication with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
